Frequently Asked Questions

Here are some of the more common questions that clients ask; simply click the question(s) to which you want answers.

Of course, if there’s anything else you’d like to know, please contact me.

Generally yes, you are suitable for a workshop.

It is recommended that you contact Carole before you make a booking, to discuss your circumstances.

In my experience with counselling couples, it is rare that both partners are motivated at the same time to agree to couple’s counselling.

I am usually approached by only one partner, and decisions are often not made because the other partner has unaddressed concerns about counselling. To help you both make a decision, I have listed some of the most common objections and my responses on this page.

Everything you tell me is confidential and I take this trust very seriously. It will not be breached unless the safety of yourself or others is at risk, or in rare circumstances, when information is requested from me by law.

This Relationship Rescue Retreat includes individual sessions, but these are not usually available outside of this workshop for attending couples.

Unconditional, positive regard is my doctrine and I do not believe that I have the right to decide what is right or wrong, or to make value judgements about anything you have done or may choose to do.

I am very respectful of all people’s faiths, beliefs and cultures. I am very experienced in working with, and respectful of, all sexual orientations and choices, including LGBTI.

I have been working in the area of mental health for over 30 years and hold a Master’s degree in Counselling & Applied Psychotherapy, with additional training in couples and family therapy. I am also a qualified Medical Herbalist and Clinical Hypnotherapist.

I am professional and ethical at all times. Boundaries include the preclusion of personal relationships with clients outside of counselling.

Most Health Funds do not, at this point, cover counselling and psychotherapy fees. However, you are entitled to a 20% rebate for counselling sessions when you submit your tax return, if your annual out of pocket medical expenses are greater than $1500. (This figure may be subject to change so check with your accountant.)

Referrals are not required for me to help you.

Dependent upon the time of year, I may be able to see you within a couple of weeks. Click here for my calendar, or please contact me for details of availability.

Payment is due in full before the workshop commences. Please see details of fees on Fees Page.

I have trained in several counselling styles including Systemic Family Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, Art Therapy, Person Centred, Gestalt and Interpersonal. I work eclectically, holistically and respectfully, at all times, and do not impose one style of therapy upon you.

My clinic is in the historic town of Oberon, which is situated in the Central Tablelands, near the Blue Mountains and west of Sydney. Read this page for maps and other information about how to find me.

We are going real well, probably better than we ever expected.

I personally thank you for making such a difference to my life and I know (S) feels the same.

Coronavirus (COVID-19) Update

The Federal Health Minister, Greg Hunt, has advised that “ALL allied health businesses nationally can continue working and are encouraged to do”. He has encouraged providers to continue vital face-to-face services where possible.

These are challenging times for everyone, but your personal and relationship issues continue to need assistance. My practice is still open for hypnotherapy and individual or relationship counselling, including Rekindle the Love workshops.

If you are sick or have come into contact with the Coronavirus at any point, and/or if you have recently been overseas, please stay at home and contact me on 0407 009 050 to reschedule your appointment.

The safety of my clients and wider community is of utmost importance to me, and my home-based clinic is fully compliant with the new social distancing rules and hygiene practices. I have ensured that appointments are staggered so that you and your partner, where appropriate, are the only clients visiting my practice, at any one time.

Video sessions are available for both individuals and couples, I have prepared a program for couples to complete a Rekindle the Love workshop, online. Read about the ‘Living, Loving & Surviving in Lockdown’ online workshop here.

Please contact me for more information.

Coronavirus and social isolation will add to existing pressure points on relationships, so don’t let your marriage become a coronavirus casualty.

Read the article by Hayley Gleeson of the ABC “How to stay married through Coronavirus“.

I thank you for your continued support in these uncertain times and know that together we will get through this.
